The CSP application window is live in your state right now, but here's what matters: your application gets ranked against every other farm's in your state during a set period. The best-scoring applications get funded. Timing and application quality count. Contact your state NRCS office for the ranking timeline.

Start by contacting your State Energy Coordinator using the USDA's contact list. You'll need to gather application forms from the REAP Application Package, then submit through the proper channels. Check your state's current signup period.

Submit applications electronically through RD Apply at https://rdapply.sc.egov.usda.gov/. This grants.gov posting is informational only. Log into RD Apply directly and follow the submission process for your disaster water project.

Reach out to your county Rural Housing Service office to verify your area has a disaster declaration and your facility type qualifies for repair. Gather cost estimates for your damaged facility and documentation of the disaster impact.

Start by contacting your regional Forest Service office to ask what monitoring or evaluation work they're currently funding. Have your project scope and timeline ready.

If your university or ag college is interested, have them gather research team credentials, project timeline, and proof of institutional support by March 26, 2026. Get moving—that's the hard deadline.

Colorado State University received $26.2M to help wildfire-prone communities and tribes plan and reduce wildfire risk, targeting high-hazard areas, low-income zones, and disaster-impacted regions. If your land sits in a Colorado area flagged for wildfire danger, your county or tribal government may use this for planning or defensible-space projects. Check with your local county emergency management office to see if your area qualifies.

Texas A&M Forest Service received $15.7M for community wildfire protection plans and implementation projects in at-risk Texas areas. This may fund either developing new wildfire protection plans or carrying out projects in existing plans less than ten years old. If you farm or ranch in a high-wildfire-hazard Texas county, contact your county extension office to learn if community planning efforts are underway.

Texas Boll Weevil Eradication Foundation received $8.0M to eradicate boll weevil from the Lower Rio Grande Valley, the last U.S. area with active infestations, using aerial applications of malathion in quarantine zones. Cotton growers in the LRGV may see aerial spray operations on commercial cotton; this is a cooperative effort between USDA and the foundation. Contact your local USDA office if you grow cotton in the Valley and have questions about spray schedules.

Prairie View A&M University received $7.4M to provide Extension services in selected Texas counties, focusing on quality of life, natural resources, food security, and community resilience. Programming supports families and communities solving everyday agricultural and community problems through research-based education.
